Custom Software
Although software support of Document Processing and Content Management systems is done mostly through commercial software configurations, most customers have needs that cannot be met through commercial products alone. DTSV has the knowledge and ability to create custom applications to meet specific customers needs. Typical reasons for custom software development in these systems include:
- Content Capture and Management Software – DTSV’s experience in custom software development ranges from developing applications for incident tracking for Blackberry handhelds, to creating tracking and management software for processing millions and of scanned images.
- Data Perfection – Although software packages like Formware provide a graphical way to check for some data conditions, many of the more complex data requirements must be handled through custom coding that is called from the data perfection/completion process. This functionality is often provided through a Visual Basic interface or a set of DLLs that are designed specifically for the application. DTSV can create, manage and extend these custom implementations to include large amounts of business logic.
- Mobile Data Capture – We developed, through our CellAvant commercial subsidiary, a handheld mobile application
that captures and processes GPS location-based data, photos, time/date, and recorded comments at the exact moment taken. The application provides immediately accessible incident reports including their GPS location and a picture of the incident. It supports 1000’s of monthly transactions and has resulted in upwards of a million dollars in commercial practice savings. We custom programmed all of the device software for this specialized application.
- Barcode processing – Most times it is cheaper and faster to process barcodes in an automated fashion from a custom client. DTSV knows how to integrate the reading and handling of data in both 1D and 2D barcodes into existing workflows.
- Data Mining – DTSV knows how to write programs that will interact with the Document Processing or Content Management systems to support complex queries from the different types of information contained in the system. We also provide and in depth metadata about documents that meet ad hoc and pre-established criteria.
- Web Development –DTSV is able to offer a full range of web application development and hosting options. This includes site design, development, hosting, search engine optimization, security services, information assurance, and backup/recovery offerings.
- Data Availability – DTSV has experience bringing data to its users in a variety of formats, including converting documents from one format to another and creating software applications to view those documents that will run on cell phones and handheld computers.
- Custom Mobile Software – Through our CellAvant commercial subsidiary, we design, develop, and integrate custom applications for mobile devices, such as: Field Service Applications that make use of the latest handheld GPS and image capture capabilities; Content Delivery Applications that provide users with instant access to key information, with or without a wireless connection; and Business Intelligence Applications – e.g., executive dashboards to monitor critical status and update information in real-time.
